no sound in stand-alone DVD player
Hi,
I've captured DVB-C broadcast to MPEG files with a PC digi-tv card. I've captured both MPEG audio and AC3 audio format MPEGs. When burning these onto a DVD+RW disc with Movie Factory 3, everything works perfect except my stand-alone DVD player won't play sound.
Sound plays in the MF player, and with PC DVD player software (Power DVD), regardless of whether the original MPEG capture file had MPEG or AC3 audio. This is the case for work in progress as well as the finished actual DVD disc.
I've installed all the latest updates to MF3 from Ulead.
Any ideas on how I can burn DVD so that my stand-alone player can also play back the audio? Thanks.

Have you resolve this problem?
I think I'm having the same problem. I have some video clips that play fine on my PC via the windows media player. But, when I burn them to a dvd using "DVD Movie Factory", I get a beautiful play back but with no audio. It would be fine if I read lips, but I don't. This is a frustrating problem because I was able to burn 2 other discs without this problem. It just seemed to crop up. (I'm using the demo version of DVD MF.)
Anyway, any help would be much appreciated. I was seriously considering buying this product. I was using NERO to burn DVDs, but the audo/video sync problem was just too much to deal with. I was shocked and amazed how ULEAD's DVD MF actually handled the sync a little better than NERO. But, if I can't get round this no audio problem, there'll be no reason for me to purchase DVD MF.

DVD factory no sound
I have the same problem, once written to DVD there is no sound on it. Same with LPCM or MPEG audio. This makes the whole program useless. Any solutions?

disc format seems to be it
I've tried burning discs with different audio codecs (not AC3), and I have the same problem. Ulead responded to my query, and according to them the issue should be with the stand-alone player and/or the disc media format; the disc works with the DVD player in my PC, so the rendered project itself should be ok.
So far I've only tried DVD+RW, let's see if it works with DVD+R/DVD-R.
Thanks to Ulead for a quick response to my query.

no luck
The problem is the MF software, not file/audio formats, DVD burner, DVD disc format or anything else.
The reason why I can be 100% certain is that I can burn the same exact source files to the same DVD disc, with the same exact HW configuration, and play them in the same stand-alone DVD player with no problem.
This is a shame, because MF3 has the best user interface and usability I've seen. The only problem is that it doesn't work.
I also tried the trial version of MF4 and I have the same problem.
I can only hope that Ulead release a patch to solve this, whatever the root cause.

solution
Solution found at last. I got this response from Ulead technical support, and it works for me; I can now burn DVDs that play also in my stand-alone player:
Reburn the video with LPCM audio:
You may change the audio format at the Project Settings (press ALT+J):
1. Uncheck "Do not convert complient MPEG files".
2. Check "Treat MPEG audio as non-DVD complient".
3. Click the MPEG settings then "Customize".
4. Go to the "Compression" tab and change the audio format to LPCM.

DMF3 Disc Creator supports AC3... DMF3 standard and SE versions does not.keithm wrote:MF3 doesn't support AC3, if you want AC3 support you will have to upgarde to the (buggy) MF4. Annoying isn't it; a great stable program like MF3 and you have to abandon it because Ulead can't release an update to give it AC3 support...

No sound
I'm also having the same problem, but when I checked my settings it was already set to LPCM. I changed the other items in the list that JayL posted. Should I leave the compression at LPCM or should I change it to MPEG and hope that works?
I'm kind of new at this and am feeling my way through it. I appreciate any help.
Also, I'm burning to DVD-R, having wasted 4 DVD+R discs that my standalone DVD player (Toshiba SD2200) wouldn't read.

Stand Alone Player No Sound
I just purchased a Pioneer DVD Burner that was bundled with Ulead MF4. When I try to play a store-bought DVD (I haven't even started to burn my own yet), I get a beautiful playback but with no sound. If I play it back with Windows Media Player, sound is fine. I've tried changing audio settings in the Ulead DVD Player, but to no avail. Actually, I have one DVD that plays sound before one chooses from the root menu, then nothing after that.
I've written Ulead support, but does anyone else out there have this problem? I've read through postings and it seems that most people are speaking of DVDs they created with MF4
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. I like the looks of the MF4 software and I'd rather not have to go buy something else like Nero.

No DVD player audio
Same problem here. I bought the Pioneer DVR-R100 with the bundle and DVD Player plays video fine but will not play movie audio. All DVD's play fine on Windows Media, Quicktime and Real Audio players.
It sounds (get the pun) like DVD Player 2.0 has a problem.
Any ideas??
