Hauppage TV Card

Post by sjj1805 »

Has anyone managed to get a Hauppage TV Card to work with Media Studio 8? There is a plug in for it when using Video Studio 9 and it works fine with that program but there doesn't appear to be a plug in for Media Studio.

Tried the various capture plug ins within MSP8 but none work with this TV card. Not important as I can capture from other sources (VS9 / WinTV2000), just curious.

I have the same problem, I haven't seen any plugins for MSP8, there are plugins for Video Studio 9, Movie Factory 3 and 4.

I don't like the plugin Ulead has for their programs because they don't give you the flexibility WinTV 2000 gives you, so I use it.

I just use the Hauppauge software for capture. I use a 3rd-party special-purpose program for editing MPEGs*, and I use Ulead DVD Workshop to author & burn DVDs... And, I use another couple of programs for the packaging & labeling artwork... sometimes another program for audio editing... and another program for...

* I don't have MSP, but editing MPEGs with MF3 or VS8 produced corrupted MPEGs that caused the dreaded "lip-sync" error, and/or crashing of Workshop. So, I've been using Womble MPEG Video Wizard for MPEG editing. (I had no problems with the unedited "Hauppauge" MPEGs.) MPEGs are NOT meant to be edited!

DVDDoug,

Actually I use the same software as you do. As I said I was just curious that the more expensive MSP8 appears to have no hauppage plug in.
Thanks.

DVDoug:

I haven't had the corrupt file or the lip sync problem since I installed the latest CD/DVD burning patch. The patch was posted on 7/27/05, its easy not to notice it because it looks like a foot note on the support info for the main programs.

Link: http://www.ulead.com/tech/general/burning_patch.htm

It seems that all the programs that depend on the patch to burn CD/DVDs have benifited with its realease.
