I just installed the MovieFactory trial, and I can't even get started on a project! I click on the Add Video Files button, and the whole thing locks up. I've tried disabling Norton Antivirus, because I've heard it can cause conflicts with video editing software, but to no avail.
Anyone know of any known bugs/conflicts or other ideas to try here? Obviously I can't decide if I like the product if I can't even get it to do anything.
Thx.
Edit: Just tried to make a slideshow. Same thing happens.
Can't even get started!
Plus, if the trial crashes, the real program will probably crash too!Obviously I can't decide if I like the product if I can't even get it to do anything.
Does your system meet the Minimum System Requirements? Is your resolution actually set to 1024 x 768 or above?
I'm just guessing... I wouldn't expect a failure to meet the system specs to actually cause a crash.
The only conflicts I've heard of are conflicts with burning software, and those conflicts only cause a problem when you get to the CD/DVD burning step.
How badly do you want to try-out this software? This might require drastic measures. A different or new computer... Or, you might need to "clean" you system by re-formatting you hard drive and re-installing Windows.

Computer should be more than adequate...
I've got a Dell dimension 8400, Pentium 4, 3.2 GHz, 1G RAM, running Win XP SP2. Should be able to handle running the program with no problem. My resolution is set at 1024x768.
But you're right, if it won't run the demo then it probably won't run the real thing. I had nearly the exact same problem a few months ago with another Ulead video editing program that had worked on this machine earlier, then stopped running. I suspect a conflict with something that was installed later, but I have no idea what that might be.
Doesn't seem worth taking extreme measures just for one program. At least I was able to find out there was a problem with the demo without buying the actual program!
So I guess I'll try something else instead...
