Capture problem - can control but not view camera

Having a problem capturing video. Can control the camera and capture video via the capture interface on VS, but the preview window is black. Have reregistered qdv.dll as seen in other FAQ's. Any other ideas please?

You should post at least a modicum of information about your system configuration if you expect a meaningful response.

Also in File/Preferences, make sure you have selected Preview Window as the Instant Playback target.

thanks a million for this tip. been going around and around trying to fix my UVS8 and thanks to you, you solved my problem! again, thanks. now i can go edit my family's memorable and precious videos!

I dont know if its the same for you, but when I start the capture of the video [before even recording] I have to go to the capture settings and set the color controls to default, becuse as they are normally all set at 0, hence giving a black screen, but still playing audio.

isnt there a way for you to save your settings before exiting so that you wouldnt have to adjust each and every time you capture?

Are these the settings from UVS, or the capture device? In the Preferences, you can expose the capture device's settings dialog in the Capture stage. I've not had to manually fix the capture settings everytime on my system, so I think the problem may be with the drivers for your capture device.
