AVI File innaccessible

Post by Nard »

Hi, I am new to Ulead video Studio 8 and need some help.

I am trying to insert/open an avi file and keep getting an error message telling me that it is not accessible??? How do I fix this so I can open this file - it works when I play it in media player. The file has been sent to me from France, the creator of the file has advised that he might have used a codec that I do not have. Could this be my problem??? If so, how do I fix it??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx

what codec is the video? Is it a DivX or xVid .avi? This might be the problem.

I think you might have to ask your French friend whether he/she knows what codec was used. The good news is that if it is a DivX file using the .AVI carrier format, then you can obtain a free version of the codec if you go to the DivX site (www.divx.com) or by doing a google search for one. (At any rate, it used to be free on that site.)
