How Many?

Post by krwzmann »

How many video files does Media Pro 8 allow me to work with on one video project? Does it make a difference if the files inserted are high definition which are then proxied?

I have 6 hours of high definition footage to work with. I captured one of the tapes in high definition which video capture split up into three files (2 Four Gig Files and 1 One gig file). I put one of the Four Gig Files into media pro and it proceeded to proxy the file.

Looks like if i want to use all of my high definition footage for one project file that i'll need to access 18 seperate video files. Is this possible? If not then I guess i'll have to downrez the footage to standard definition through the camera.

I currently have MEdia pro 8 running on an Athlon 3400+ system with 2 gigs of ram and 400 gigs of hard drive space.

Thanks for your info / help!

I see no reason why not. I haven't worked with HD, but I have done a DV project with ~ 50 avi files, so I think 18 would be a doddle.

Have you tried turning proxy off? Your system should have enough horsepower to edit without it, I would think. In my case, MSP8 was taking longer to build the proxy files than it did to render the final product.
