"Operation Aborted" when burning

Post by salah_Aldin »

Hi all,

I'm new in authring DVDs so i don't know much technical stuff.
My problem is the following :

i finished preparing a DVD project which contains 1 first play file and 2 AVI episodes with background music during menus but when i press the burn button, it starts converting the video of the first play then audio of the first play..
then it starts converting the video of my AVI file and once it reaches converting the audio part of the AVI file i get this message "Operation Aborted".

i don't know what is wrong everything seems fine during the project i even tried to burn the same project using my brother's laptop and it worked fine. so it seems that my computer misses something that my brother's does not.

my video file is AVI.
i'm using K-lite codec pack 2.53 basic, and DIVX 6.0 codec pack.
file size is 3.23 GB
Project Duration is 1:40:33
Disc Format is DVD
TV System is NTSC
Disc Space is 4.3 GB
i'm choosing the (Good Quality) option.

Can anyone please help me, i'll be thankfull :)

Hi

I too had the same problem a while and I posted a query to the board about it but nobody replied! Anyway, I ended up answering the post myself when I found out the answer!!! Read this and it will tell you why it won't work:-

I think the problem is with the DIVX 6.0 codec. DWS might not be able to handle that variety of .avi.

Since .avi can be a number of different codecs, there will be some that are not recognizeable by DWS (DivX / xVid being some that are a hit-and-miss).

On the other hand, if you used a standard dv .avi video, that should be fine.

Or if you do as blockbuster mentioned, which is to convert to dvd compliant mpeg first, that should also work...

GeorgeW is correct. The DivX 6 codec does not play well with many programs, and believe it or not this was intentional.

Basically DivX was trying to get their user base to leverage other software makers to obtain DivX "liscenses". Yet another case of over-reaching ambition IMO.

This has been such a problem that several people I know have demanded and received refunds because of its bad behavior. DivX has promised to post an update (they've promised to do so) but I haven't seen it yet.

I'd avoid using DivX 6 and go with DivX 5.x if you have it.
