VideoStudio 7.01 burn to DVD 2 Titles + chapters problem

Post by GaryC »

I created a burn project with 2 VideoStudio projects, each having 4 chapters. The two Title (main) menus, and each of the sub-menus are correct. When I then move to the preview window, activating any of the menus leads to the correct video/audio output to PC screen. After either burning directly to DVD disc, or creating a dvd.iso file first, followed by disc burning, I get a disc that does not respond correctly to chapters in the second project (under Title_2).

When Title_2, Chapter_1 is selected, all is OK.
When Title_2 and Chpater_2, _3, or _4 is selected, I get the audio for that chapter under Title_2, BUT the video for that chapter under Title_1.
All selections under Title_1 work correctly.

Is there an additional step I need to take to get the correct correlations?

I had a similar issue once; I wanted to copy a DVD, so imported the files into the VS8 timeline (about 4 files in total). Went through, remade the menu etc, and burned. Result: the chapter points were way off, and getting worse toward the end of the movie.
Repeated the process, this time I rendered the component parts into a single video file. NO PROBLEM.
I cannot stress enough that when you are at the burning stage then VS8 should have ONE CONTIGUOUS FILE to work with. Do not burn using a vsp (project) file - this can lead to all sorts of errors. ALWAYS make a single video file out of your project, and when you are happy with that, use it for the burn.

A long time ago (probably before UVS7), I had the same problem. Somehow UVS picked up files left behind in the Convert directory from a previous project. Manually deleting everything that was there resolved the issue.

I rendered the Title_2 into a single video file and then added that video file to the Title_1 video in 'Create Disc'. This solved the problem. Thank you for the help.
