Copying photo file within viewer

Post by RalphDN »

A common task, at least for me, is to step through a directory filled with .jpg images and selectively copy or move some of the photos to a second directory while VIEWING, not while browsing, because I have an enlarged version of the photo in front of me for evaluation.

I haven't been able to find a copy command which will let me copy the file to a new subdirectory. There is a "Copy" command, the text "copy the selection and place it on the clipboard" shows in the status bar. And there is a "Copy Image" command, apparently "Copy Image Content."

There must surely be a way to just copy the entire photo file..?!

I'd appreciate it if someone can tell me what I'm missing, an "Explorer" must certainly be able to copy a file!

Regards,
Ralph

I would agree if it was an "Explorer" type program. As the name suggests, it's a viewer. PhotoExplorer shows a bigger than thumbnail image also, can't you use that?

Hmm... I reckon it's a "Photo Explorer" ... but thanks for your response, apparently there is no image copy so I'll stop looking for one.

Do you mean the preview? I suppose, I can also enlarge the thumbnail size but that just isn't the same as truly examining a photo in full screen... and when trying out a new program, one makes a bunch of compromises, trying to fall in love with the program and use it instead of another one (in this case ACDsee) but at some point one does give up, uninstall and go back to the old one.

Thanks for your prompt answer!

All the best,

I'm sorry about that Ralph, I should have paid more attention. You mentioned the "Viewer" and I simply implied that you were talking about the viewer that pops up when you double click an image in the Windows explorer window. That one does not have a copy and paste function.

PE on the other hand has, that's what I was refering too. If you widen the folder panel on the left hand side of the screen, any image you select on the right (select, not double click) is shown on the left as big as possible. Here you can copy and paste while previewing the image to be copied in a bigger size than the thumbnail.

If your other program has a better functionality than that, I don't know how, I guess you better stick with that.

No offence intended.
