MSP8 stops responding for few seconds applying transitions
It's an annoyng new ...feature
The new auto back-up can freeze the app occasionally, but not specifically when applying transitions - maybe just coincidence.

Question for the wiser heads
This brings up a question I have been trying to deal with. So far, I have left the autosave at it's default of "on". And contrary to what Devil says.. mine seems ALWAYS to kick in at the most annoying times... I think I hit a key, but nothing happens cuz the autosave is going... Autosave should be a background feature. Not a "stopping the machine from taking whatever commands you are trying to enter" feature.
Ok enuff whining.. my question though is: Has anyone else seen autosave ac
tually work? If I have a Ulead crash...and then answer yes to bring up the last saved version of the project.. it is never where it last autosaved. Sometimes it is even two or three projects behind what I am working on. It is to the point where I manually save after every couple of minutes to save my ***. Any ideas?

Non-linear editing is half art/half brain damage

I agree that autosave can be a big PITA. On big projects, it can block things for over a minute each time. OTOH, it has saved my bacon many times where I have had to go back because of some glitch or other (often caused by myself
)
On projects where I find it too obtrusive, I tend to set the time to 30 minutes, rather than 10 - and keep my fingers crossed.
Believe me, I know Ulead are aware of all these problems and I hope that SP1 (when?) will resolve this problem. I admit that I think I was the instigator for the development team to write this feature, but it didn't turn out as I had envisaged. During beta testing it was altered many times but the testers were not over-satisfied with the results, but this was not a top-priority issue. In the meanwhile, I can say only that if you don't like this feature, switch it off or prolong the interval between back-ups.

I'm working on a current project and I dread adding transitions because it hangs up for about 15-20 seconds processing? sometimes it seems like the program is on the verge of crashing.
