Alternative to MF?

Post by nobbyclark »

Ok, so I've been persisting with this software for more than year now. Question is, what alternative products are out there that can assist with the VHS to DVD transfer process and allow me to produce slideshows of JPG pictures to DVD? I've looked at Pinnacle Studio but it appears that everything is a 'bolt on' to the standard product.

MF is proving to be too hit and miss. I want a product that does what it says all of the time, not just sometimes. Icing on the cake was in attempting to transfer some MPGs to DVD, which it first said were not compatible with the software, even though it had done the conversion and then when I got that to work, it decided to lose the audio.

I don't want to have to use one product to produce the video, another to convert the audio and a third to burn the DVD, leaving MF to produce only the menu structure. Is there a product that can do all of this?

Yes, MF4!

Specify your exact problems and I am sure someone will be able to help you.

I've answered my own question - Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5. Been using it for a week now. It's given me far less grief than MF and seems much faster at gathering all the required data prior to doing the DVD burn. Then again, I have also doubled my memory, so this has probably helped.

Same problem here. I got this software because of all it's promisses but have been largely hit and miss.
The program will crash suddenly or not process the audio in the video files so the final project has no audio at all.
I was highly disappointed with this software.

It all boils down to what you want to spend.

Think of Move Factory as an all in one editor and DVD creator.
If you are prepared to spend more then you can split the two tasks up and use Video Studio 9 or alternatively Media Studio 8 for editing.
Even though both of those programs can also then produce a DVD they are more editors than DVD creators.

Now to create the DVD you can use DVD Workshop. This one doesn't do editing it is a specialist program to create the DVD from whatever has been edited, hopefully in one of the above programs.

It all boils down to
1. How much stuff you wish to produce - you wouldn't spend a fortune if you cannot justify the cost.
2. How much spare pocket money you have.
