Stretched people

Post by TonyP »

I recently downloaded the trial version of MovieFactory 4.0 but my problem experienced with MF 3.0 remains. An AVI file views fine on Windows Media player but its aspect gets stretched vertically in MF so that all the people become tall & skinny (I think it was a wide screen picture).

I have searched other posts but haven't found a solution. I have tried a variety of settings 4:3 16:9 along with the custom settings under "change MPEG settings" and "custom".

Any ideas on how to get this back to the wide screen appearance?

Thanks in advance for any help

the resolution of an NTSC DVD is 720x480... yours is at 720X400. This has to be converted to DVD standards so there is a possibility that is will look like stretched in the final DVD.

try using the Export Movie tool in the Add/Edit MEdia of DMF4. load the avi file and click on the export movie button then select a 4:3 format. it may still looked like stretched but lets see what happens...

Thanks for your suggestion. It almost worked. I tried exporting in several formats:

MPEG: Video returned to proper size but no audio came through.
AVI, MOV, and WMV: The video returned to the proper size, but but audio was totally out of sync.

Again thanks . . . any other ideas? Know of any other programs that might allow conversion of the video?

This is probably cause by the MP3 codec in your AVI file. I've heard many users compalining the audio of their AVI got lost during conversion. The common thing is that those AVIs have MP3 audios in them. Try a different AVI with a different audio codec.
