Hi Elway,
VideoReDo fixes sync problems within the MPEG stream. During analog capture video and audio frames are dropped. (This is an imperfect world!) Standard players on computers can apparently compensate for this.
VideoReDo removes various very small pieces that are not noticeable to align audio and video in order to maintain sync. It also straightens out the time code. DMF has a problem with the dropped sectiions if they are not taken care of.
If you load your MPEG into VideoReDo and use "Quick Stream Fix" since you don't have to edit, this shouild take care of the sync problem.
Process is:
1 Load file into VideoReDo
2. Choose Tools/Quick Stream Fix
3. Click "Start Quick Stream Fix" button.
4. File will be outputted into the same directory as your original with an "(02)" appended to the name.
Load these "fixed" files into DMF and try creating a DVD from them.
Regarding:
" When i try to select long play I get the error message "there is a conflict between your audio setting and the "Treat MPEG audio as Non dvd compliant" option."
-When you click on the requester, the audio will change to MPEG from LPCM. We may not have to chage this if we can get the files to pass through to a DVD in-sync with "Do not convert compliant..." checked.
I also author to a hard drive folder and then burn as a separate step. Try that as well.
Let me know how you make out,
Pat
Audio Sync problem
Hi Shannon,
This is the method that worked for me with my home DVD recorder. Give this a try.
1. I extract the program from the DVD to my hard drive using this procedure:
http://www.drdsystems.com/VideoReDo/Ext ... romDVD.htm
I am extracting it as one contiguous VOB for each PGC so follow all the instructions.
2. Import the VOB file into VideoReDo and edit. If you have a problem loading and navigating the file follow this recommendation first then load the fixed file into VideoReDo:
"Some DVDs may have non-sequential timestamps. VideoReDo can handle most of these situations automatically, but occasionally it will have problems opening or navigating these VOBs. This situation can easily be remedied by running Tools>QuickStream Fix against the VOB file before editing with VideoReDo."
Also under Tools/Options make sure "Output Streams for Movie Factory" is checked
3. Import the edited files into DMF. Set menus and chapter points.
4. Author to a DVD folder on the hard drive and burn as separate steps.
This hopefully will work for you as well.
Let me know,
Pat

Hi Shannon,
If you are referring to VideoReDo not being able to open the VOB and you are using the File/Open from the menu, just chage the requester "Files of type" from MPEG to VOB or all files and it will show all the files in your directory.
You can also just start VideoReDo and drag and drop the file from Windows Explorer onto VideoReDo and it will open.
If this is not what you meant, please specify what "it" is.
Thanks,
Pat

Another vote for VideoReDo!
After trying all of the other suggestions in this thread, I tried VideoReDo and it corrected the sync problems I was having with DMF30DC... the audio had been following the video by over 15 frames once you got about an hour into the program. I tried Womble's MPEG-VCR and that made the audio even more out of sync (like a full second off!)
My recordings were made with a set-top DVD recorder from Toshiba and before editing them on my PC there had been no sync problems.
FWIW the installation procedure for VideoReDo specifically asks if you will be using ULead Movie Factory to burn your MPEGs to DVD, mentioning that there are problems with the way the DMF30 handles the time code.
Funny thing is that when I was using my ADS Instant DVD2 USB capture box with DMF30 there were hardly any sync problems at all.
