Audio Sync problem

Audio Sync problem
I am new to Movie factory but it is version three. When I try to take an mpeg file that plays fine on my computer or through the tv by the s-video port and add it to movie factory to create a dvd disc or even to a dvd folder for the vob...the audio is off from the video. I have tried the defrag, closing all aplications, disconnecting the internet, cleaning temp. Hard drive is set to dma. But when I ad mpegs, wether it be two or four or five..the audio is always off from the video. And another thing I noticed was that Movie Factory for four mpegs would creat the menu vob, then three vob that were 976 meg and one that was 220. The middle 976 meg vob merges the end of the first mpeg movie and the first mpeg movie on the next one...so basically the second and third mpegs I added. I dont get this. Any help?

Have you read this thread?
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=11
Contains a lot of useful info to solve A/V sync. Follow the advice. Its good.
In terms of editing in DMF. Don't. Render time is very long and usually increases likelihood of audio OOS. I only import MPEGs that will be compliant in DMF.
If your files are already in MPEG, try editing with VideoReDo and import the files into DMF. Make sure "Do not convert compliant..." is checked. Author to a folder on the hard drive. Should only take about 20-30 minutes. Burn as a separate step.

elway7,
VOB's are storage containers for mpg2 files. A VOB can contain more than one mpg2 files as long as the mpg2 files have the same characteristics.
If the mpg2 files have different characterics and are still dvd compliant
then another set (chain) of VOB's will be started.
Ex:Framesize 720x480
VTS_01_0.VOB
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
etc.
Framesize 352x480
VTS_02_0.VOB
VTS_02_1.VOB
VTS_02_2.VOB
VTS_02_3.VOB
etc.

Well I understand the vob merging. BUt it seems that most of my audio sync problems are the vob right after the two merge. The vob that has the two different mpegs merging plays fine on the end of the first mpeg and the beginning of the second mpeg. It is the vob after that that always seems to have the audio sync problem? Now why is that and how do I fix it? There has to be a way or a setting that I am missing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled to make sure of things but still have the same problem. I need help.

What OS are you running?
The "INI" file can be put in different places dependiung on that.
Also make sure you can view "hidden files" as well.
When you locate it, open the file in notepad (a simple text editor) and add the lines to the current file under the [VIODRIVER] section. You will not be creating the file, you will just be adding a few extra lines to it in the proper section.

Ok Also I want to let you know I checked the dma and that is set. I cleaned my temp and other files rebooted uninstalled MF rebooted with selective startup in windows xp reinstalled the updated then direct and the patches for MF then rebooted and tried to convert again to dvd folder for vob...watched teh vob now all of the vobs are off. Even ones that werent off before. I am so confused by this...The patches would be the only thing that would do that right? But it took all foru mpegs and created vobs and the audio was off on all. My computer is amd athlon 3400+ 2.4 gh 100g hard drive.
Since you are using XP, make sure you have selected the "View hidden files" in Windows Explorer. That will allow you to see the hidden folder.
Are you authoring the DVD to a folder on the hard drive?
Are you using a software DVD player on the computer to view the DVD structure or are you just loading a VOB and viewing that?
What is your capture device for the 4 MPEGs?
What are the capture properties?
Are they exactly the same including audio? Load the MPEG into DMF. Selct them one at a time. Right click and select properties to view it.
Do you have "Do not convert compliant..." checked?
How long is it taking to render to a DVD folder on the hard drive?

Help with this please. I tried the suggestions in this post and also the suggestions from the link provided below.
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=11
It seems that the audio is correct, but the video is faster after I save it as a dvd file to hd and also when I burn it to disk.

What's the project settings?
And what's the properties of your source files?

If you change the Video Data Rate option in the project setting from VBR to CBR, will it fix the problem??
Sometimes it will work when you are using a Dolby Digital clip in Ulead products.
Hope this helps.

I have tried all of the suggestions in this and the earlier thread.
All is to no avail. This is really frustrating. Trimming MPEGs shouldn't be this hard.
PHD's recommendation to not even try to edit in DMF seems oh so true. I guess that doctorate-level education has its vitues.
The question then becomes: Which software to use for editing?
One choice is video Re-do for $50 http://www.drdsystems.com/VideoReDo/
Another one is DVD-lab for $100 or $200 http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/index.html
Each has free trial versions.
Any other suggestions?
Any comments?
