I don't use photo express, but from the sound of things I would say the easiest way of continuing to use V3 would be to copy the files from the new camera to the hard drive, using windows explorer > drag and drop, then import into PE?
Most new cameras I've seen will connect direct to XP and work after an initial finding hardware. If it's an odd camera, then may investing in a card reader would sort the problem. Then V5 is probably the same price as a reader????
