Ulead UK Support

Post by david reece »

Not to sure if anyone has noticed but we now have a premium rate support number.

I have just tried it this morning. No improvement on the original.

Guy on the end had no idea about the product and we ended up in an argument.

Basically he said what do you expect for a £30 application!!!! Ulead have no obligations to fix nor test the software before or when it is released. if you want an application like that you have to pay £1000!

marks out of 10 - a resounding zilch! :x

also forgot to add he didnt think much of people posting on the webboard and solving problems for them. He said the webboard is for sharing project ideas not techie ideas! My response was if support had been that good in the first place everyone would use tech support!

In my experience, a premium rate helpline is just a money making exercise. You are not guaranteed to receive a solution to your problem by this means. Personally I`d rather work it out myself or with the help of other more knowledgable board members.

By the way, I think the new format for the forum is a huge improvement on the old one. Now all we need is for Ulead to perfect all their software and all our problems will be solved :D

But apparently we are not paying enough to get perfect software

If that is, in fact, their "official" position, it could explain a lot! :o

I find it very difficult to believe however, that they could actually think that the price of a particular software package determines whether or not it should do what it is advertised to do. Surely that would be false advertising at best and theft at worst?

e.g. - I have the complete Corel WordPerfect Office 12 Home Edition suite that cost $30 less than UVS8 does ($69 vs $99) . It includes the latest versions of WordPerfect (WP), QuatroPro (spreadsheet), PhotoBook, PhotoAlbum, Encyclopedia Britannica 2005, a CD/DVD music program and Norton Antivirus 2005. Certainly a far richer suite of software than UVS8 provides - and it all works flawlessly with great support!

If I was Ulead, I'd fire that turkey you got on their help line and use the money they save on his salary to make this product do what they say it's supposed to!
