Multiple Timelines and Audio/Video Mixing Problems

Post by deltaray »

Hi,

I am currently testing the Media Studio Pro 8 Demo Version with a Test Project. I want to use the feature of having multiple timelines and mixing the, one of the best features in the new Media Studio Version.

There seems to be a problem if you use music in the Main Timeline, and add other Timelines with audio tracks into the main timelime. When the subtimeline begins, no audio is played anymore and if I render the movie, it breaks once the subtimeline begins.

I hope I could explain my problem well enough, if not I can post som screenshots or create a sample project to reproduce the problem. I think it is some kind of bug, or is it a feature ;)?

First time I used MSP8 I had exactly the same problem. Other than saving the project, shutting down and opening it again, I dont know what I did but suddenly it started to work properly.

Very strange :?
I rebooted restarted couple of times.

Btw when I split the audio track from the embedded timeline and remove it, the problem dissapears. But I need the audiotrack ;)

Maybe there is some option I can set to fix it?

I haven't experienced this yet, but I ask out of curiosity, when you add the timeline 1, 2 etc. to the main timeline, have you rendered the latter? I ask this because a virtual clip is never added as rendered, even if you have rendered it in a sub-timeline. I understand the reason for this, but it can be a little PITA because rendering a VC takes a little longer than rendering in the sub-timeline. In fact, for a complex sub-timeline, it may be quicker to create an AVI file and import that in the main timeline. More than one way to skin the cat :)

Another point is that some audio formats are quite critical in MSP, especially MP3, which sometimes, depending on the source, can cause havoc. I suggest that MP3 be converted to WAV at all times at the project sampling rate before adding it to any timeline.

Thanks for the hint. I will try to convert the mp3 audio tracks to wave this evening. Speed was no problem so far, I am very pleased with the performance of the new Media Studio so far :)

Just discovered what the problem was with my second audio line.
It's not immediately obvious especially to new users of MSP8, though no doubt the "old uns" will laugh.

I wanted to add a bit of background music (not replace )
and so I added an audio fade in/out filter. I expected it to do just that - well it did but not the way I thought it would.

The piece of music was 3 and half mins long. Looking at the pre-defined curve I can now see that it split the track up into 3 sections
The first minute was fade in, the next minute and half was full volume and the last minute was fade out.

So it was there all the time, just taking a minute to "fade in" (OK I can adjust that - I know, as I said not immediately obvious to a new user.)

Seems easier to me just to do it manually by creating points by clicking the volume line on the audio track, then dragging the volume line up/down.

Strange strange, today I opened the editor and the problem was gone, but another occured which is described in this thread:
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 5383#35383

Once I removed the bad directx filters, and reinstalled msp8 the problems were gone - till now :D!
