Masking an overlay

I'm afraid that isn't any more helpful. Maybe I didn't explain myself correctly.

I would like to have the LEFT HALF of one video, and the RIGHT half of the other video playing at the same time.

After reading the help as much as possible, I am convinced I need a MASK OVERLAY. I can create a 720x480 BMP half black and half white. How do I insert it into ULead to pick up as a Mask feature on my overlay track?
