Andy Jamieson has a point - Ulead and others sell on the back of how many (mostly useless) transitions they can do etc before getting the basics right. As the user community gets more clued-up, these things will impress less than robustness and technical support.

Back to the topic, my wishlist would include better audio editing, instead of having to get my head round Audacity (which ought to win prizes for cr*p online help). For example, why can't you apply audio filters to your basic sound track, only to music & voice tracks (I'm on VS8).

you can apply audio filters to the main audio but you have to split the audio first.

this is one of the things that starts to get on the nerves about VS. its a great program but as other people have said you'll know when its time to move on.

im moving on to an imac and final cut pro.

VS is a fantastic way to enter the editing environment i recommend it to all!!

Here's what I'd like to see:

- A larger view of the timeline when editing audio and working with "rubberbanding"

- Larger preview windows for editing effects

- Ability to click on the crosshair (in effects) and then use arrow keys for precise placement

- and for kicks, one additional video track!

Hey we're talking about 10.0, although I'll gladly accept a patch any day. :-)

Duffgnr - you said "but you have to split the audio first. "

Could you explain ? Thanks,

pdunn,

If you want to apply an audio effect to your video's audio, you'll need to select Split Audio, i.e. separate the audio from video. In others words, you can only apply audio effects to audio tracks on the Voice or Music track.

Hope this helps,

put the clip you want to modify in the video track

right click on the clip.

click on the the 'split audio' selection.

the audio from the clip will be placed on one of the audio tracks, you can then apply filters there.

of course this prevents you from using that part of the audio track but if you save as a new video file, create>video file, you can replace the original clip with the new one freeing up the audio track.

use a clean timeline in a new project to do the splitting.

hope this helps!!!

Thanks to both of you. I hope Ulead are noting how convoluted it needn't be !

Audio out-of-sync hasn't gone away in VS9......have posted here and talked to ULEAD tech support. Their (ULEAD) suggestions have not corrected the problem......still waiting.....
