DVD disc with CSS protected. Report ID: 0x80040907(2311)

Post by Jollygood »

When I try to import DVD-VR files from a -RW finalised disc recorded in VR mode I get the message:
"DVD disc with CSS protected
Report ID: 0x80040907(2311)"

The disc isn't CSS protected. It is just a normal disc with programs recorded from the TV.

I have gotten around this problem by converting to DVD-Video format in Copy Disc but then I end up with 2 discs (one in DVD- Video format, and then the other when I have created the menu's etc).

With all the problems I am having trying to convert VR to DVD-Video and it freezing at 98% most of the time if there was anyway around this extra step it would be great.

Are you sure your DVD recorder does not add any copy protection?

I've experienced this problem when a DVD-RAM is inserted in a DVD drive (not a RAM writer) and importing the video directly from the disc.

I suggest you copy the DVD-folders from your disc to your hard drive and import it from there.

I don't know for 100% sure that they aren't being CSS protected. The manual makes no mention of it and I don't know how else I can check.

Like the problem I am having converting VR to DVD where it freezes at 98% Video/Audio Muliplexing, when I try and copy the folder to my hard drive as suggested by Ploggy it gets to about 10 seconds left and then freezes my whole computer.

(All my discs play perfectly on my PC from beginning to end so I can't understand what is happening at 98%)

This isn't going to solve your problem, but FYI - It is technically impossible to put CSS on a burned DVD. There is something called CPRM (Copy Protection for Recordable Media) but I really don't think your recorder would be using it.
