capturing during blank spaces

Post by gordon_fan_24 »

I use the ADS Tech DVD Xpress to capture analog, but when I try to capture a video that has alot of 3-5 second segments of nothing between the scenes, the capture freezes. The only way I can capture is to watch it, stop it and start it again once it passes a blank point. What can I do? (VS7) My computer is very new and fast (3.4 Ghz)

Gordon,
Why don't you just use Capwiz? It has been very reliable for me and much more reliable than Video Studio for capturing analog.

I have tried both the VS capture, and Capwiz, with the same problem

Hi
The problem appears to be the way your footage has been recorded to camera.

When capturing the input is monitored to ensure a good signal.

No signal and the capture will not start.
Loss of signal and capture will stop.

I do not use Capwiz but assumes that all capture programs will monitor their inputs.

It's not a problem with your computer but the way you have recorded your original tape. Never record your video in small segments with blank spaces between them - always ensure that between each video clip the tape is black with a continuous time code or sync pulses on analogue.

That it why many professional videographers recommend recording a blank tape from start to finish before using the tape - to establish a continuous time code.
