Motion background to menu WS2
I've brought an avi in to use as a motion background to the menu.
I normally have a first play piece about the company.
If I use the first play the menu does not appear after it has finished playing.
If I remove the first play the motion background appears as it should and the text links to the movies work nearly fine, the only problem is when it gets to an end, it does not return to the menu.
Click on play and the app then crashes.
With the first play in place, it plays the first play, returns to a blank screen, any other button pressing etc results in the app crashing.
The movie for the background is 30 seconds, created with premiere 6.5 using canopus dv codec.
When the movie plays it plays for the 30 seconds I've set it to do and moves to whichever title I have selected as default and will play any I select manually.
The playlist shows return to menu after each title.
I've been ill for a month and can't spend much time at the pc but I've searched for any clues but cannot find anything. This is a charity event I filmed shortly before my illness and I just need to sort this menu out and then I can get it away for them, they've been good in waiting for me to get better, although it is all being done for free it is holding up their fundraising efforts.
So any clues would be great, anybody done this with success? If not I'll just use a still background with motion menu buttons maybe.
I was going to try a test burn to see if it plays ok anyway, but my dvd burners are not recognised anymore.....
More research needed I think. In the mean time if anyone has any hints or tips, I'm all ears.

I, too, have had problems with Nero. I now refuse to install it on any of my computers. I suspect that a fairish number of problems reported on these forums (and others) is because of other applications, including Nero products, not being compatible.

Hello. I wonder if someone would elaborate on the Nero incompatability problem. I also have Nero 6 on my computer along with DWS2. I have yet to encounter a conflict, but I'm trying to understand just what way it could. I mean, Nero doesn't run TSR on your computers, does it?
If Nero is sitting idle in a folder on the HD, I am not understanding how it can cause a problem. If in fact it is, I'll remove mine also.
Do you folks somehow have Nero as the default burning application in the final step of DWS? I'm really not understanding how any program not running can cause problems.
thanks much,

Burning issue
It can't
I wouldn't worry too much, you only need, DVD burning software if you intend to write your DVDs to folders or ISO images.
DVD workshop and NERO don't "interfere" with each other espescally if they're not running at the same time, even then it shouldn't be an issue.

But it can be and sometimes is. I don't know why. I've tried both Nero and Roxio at different times on at least three computers and I've had problems with both, cured by uninstalling and clearing the registry. The problems include interference with Ulead proggies, frequently causing crashes. I suspect they put in their own drivers for CD/DVD drives, this is speculative.

Nero certainly has an incompatibility problem with my pc.
What I described above, the crashing of WS2, the inability to play the motion menu, not testing properly, not recognising the burners was all solved by removing nero.
If nero works on a pc I see no reason to remove it. It works reasonbly well on my office pc.
I don't pretend to even understand why, just that is the problem I have.
