MF3 memory problem when creating a slideshow

Hi all, First post to the new look forums (well, new to me anyway).

I've had MF3 for over a year now and have used it to convert all my old VHS tapes to DVD and also to create a lot of slideshow DVDs from my digital camera. At least until last Saturday...

Now, every time I try and create a slideshow for output to DVD, it gets to the point where it does 'Video/Audio' multiplexing (even if there is no audio), gobbles up about 1.5Mb of virtual memory and then says it can't write to DVD. I initially tried to create a complex slideshow with soundtrack and it didn't like it. Then I tried a simple one with a few pics and no sound. Still didn't like it. I then tried to create a DVD video with a mixture of WMV and MPG files and a soundtrack. Same problem.

Anybody have any ideas why it should suddenly start chewing up virtual memory and refuse to write to DVD? This last worked 5 weeks ago when I created a DVD slideshow. In the interim, Skype has been installed and that is the only environmental change in the PC as far as I know.

What are your system's specs? You're probably getting that problem because of some apps running in the background; turn them all off (including Skype, maybe that's causing the prob, I guess, since MF worked prior to installing it).

Thanks for the reply. It's a P4 3.06Ghz, 512Mb ram. It used to work fine with this spec. I've disabled Skype but still get the problem. I'm going to uninstall Skype and re-install MF to see if that fixes it.

I have the same problem with MF6+. But before 2 month's it worked... does somebody know the answer? Is the solution to deinstall skype?
Sometimes the video/audio mulitiplexing stops at 50%, sometimes 60%... in the taskmanager the program then needs 00 CPU, but the project rendering time goes on, no error message.
