I have been looking around this forum and I found a couple of 'old' posts referring to this error, suggesting the problem 'wnet away' or ...... As I'm experiencing this problem now, I'm curious whether someone found out more details that could help me getting back on track again.
I have been hit by this error in DWS2 since I have updated a burn-patch (ulead_burning3619281_pack) earlier today. Before I have had no issues what so ever to burn discs directly after finishing my project in DWS2.
Since this patch update I get -after project authoring is complete and burning is starting- this 'unspecific' error.
I have been trying to set the system 'back to the old' stage w/o success. What worries me even more is that when I use DWS2 to prepare the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders to burn them separately on a disc, other burning software (e.g. NERO and CloneDVD) can not handle them and burning process is stopped - with error message !!
I'm clueless - any suggestions is welcome !
regards, Michael

I too am now having this same error code 8004145d come up after trying to burn more DVDs from a project that was saved in WS2.
All updates have been made, I never encountered it in MSP7, not until after I upgraded to the boxed version of MSP8.
I even recreated a new project with menu, mpg, etc & got the same error at the point where the recording actually begins, after the encoding etc.
I sure don't want to use Movie Factory after using WS2...which always worked seamlessly before. I have done thousands of DVDs with it.
Yes, I have done all of the updates.
Does this mean that WS2 is not going to work now that I have MSP8?
Please know that I will be very thankful for any input you all may have.
Thank you.

I am convinced that either a burning engine patch or a 16x Patch or even 3.22 cause this and Freezing. I have seen this occur a few times on one of my systems in the passed few days. This morning I was trying to burn a simple one button 2 hour concert archive- already encoded in Procoder- it froze 3 times- I put the project caddy into another machine and it ran no problems. Have now uninstalled WS2 and NOT added 16x Patch
Knowing what Patches should go on other than 3.22 is a mystery...even to Ulead, who offer no sound upgrade proceedures AFIK

Thank you for your response.
Unfortunately I don't have another system to do as you mentioned.
I guess I could hope for a new updated patch to solve this in the future, however in the meantime, would anyone have any suggestions as to another type of software to use that I could still achieve the moving menus, etc. that WS2 has? With projects to burn & deadlines to meet, I am at a loss as to what to do.
Thanks again.

Several weeks ago, I talked with some great guys at Ulead about this error. They had me completely uninstall all files that had anything to do with Ulead & then reinstall in this order, the MSP8 & then the WS2.
I still ended up with the same error message.
Their conclusion was that the Company needs to do an update so that WS2 will work with MSP8 & that it was probably going to take a number of comments from others for them to put this on the front burner.
This morning I get an e-mail to upgrade from WS2 to MSP8, it doesn't make sense to do an ad for WS2 if it won't work with MSP8.
Maybe I'm missing something, but I would sure like to get WS2 working with MSP8!
Any suggestions? Thanks.

reinstall without patches
I had created over a dozen perfect DVD projects before I began getting this error. Then I realized that I had installed Ulead's patches for DVD WS2 (just to stay up to date) after my last successful project. I also had upgraded my DVD burner firmware in that same time period. I uninstalled DVD WS2, then reinstalled using my original install application (version 2.2). Since then I have had not had this error again. Ulead needs to put the installer for the original version on its support page for all the people who have been messed up by the patches, then make a better patch!
