evertime I try to play a MOVIE (store bought) I get a Macrovision protection error! Why?

I guess this is because the movie is macrovision protected. Macrovision is a form of copy protection that will only allow you to play the movie through a DVD player properly connected to a TV. There are DVD players which can circumvent this protection mechanism.

Since you are trying to play the movie on a PC, I guess, the protection does not allow ULEAD DVD player to play this movie.
