Do I need a firewire or how does this work?

I bought a Samsung DuoCam yesterday.. it uses MiniDV Tape and also has memory stick / sd card slots...

How do I capture the video onto my computer??

If I use just the normal USB cable I can read off of my SD Card and get the digital still images... but when I use videostudio it says no device is connected... do I absolutely need to have an I-link cable??

It has a DV-I jack on the camera.. do I need that cable to capture video?

Yes you do absolutely have to have a firewire (i-link , IEEE1394, DV port etc) cable to transfer top quality video from your camera to your computer.

ok thanx...

its not real cool how they give you the software and cords for everything else.. USB, A/V out, power... but no firewire...

They are trying to keep costs low. Virtually all computers have USB, but many do not have Firewire. I bet it wouldn't cost them more than $0.50 to include that extra cable...
