firewire to set top dvd recorder
one question that's always bothered me since there are dvd recorders that have firewire in and output. will recording from the computer to the set top recorder actually work when exporting the projecct, or will it screw up?

I think you should be able to export your edited video to an external recorder with no problem using the Share > Export function. While not exporting to a DVD recorder like yours, I regularly export my edited DVs back to my video camera via Firewire and the quality is excellent. While Firewire is normally associated with DV format, as we all know, it is also possible to capture direct to mpeg with Firewire (though sometimes with problems, but not problems associated with Firewire). Firewire in essence is just a high-speed high quality transfer medium, so as far as I can see, there should be no trouble exporting a DVD-compatible mpeg via firewire to an external burner. I do it regularly from my laptop to an external LG DVD burner in a Firewire/USB enclosure, so there should be no difference with a stand-alone set top DVD recorder.
