DVDMF4 - Key Error

Post by GeorgeC »

Everything was working great with DVDMF4 and recall I read somewhere in this forum that I could uninstall MF3. I did this and obviously I was wrong as I now have a "key error" when I try to run DVDMF4. Is there anyway to fix this without reinstalling MF3?

I did read elsewhere that it may be due to a corrupted install but that did not happen in my case as it was working fine until I uninstalled DVDMF3.

Thanks in advance for any help.

George

I reinstalled DVDMF3 and then the upgrade again and all is fine again.

However, can I remove DVDMF3 and still keep the upgraded version running or because DVDMF3 is the original file (and the rest are purchased upgrades) am I forced to keep this on my system for ever and a day? I hope not.

You may uninstall the older versions but in case you need to install the DMF4 upgrade, you need DMF3 installed.

Sorry for the slow reply, I've been away.

I tried to unistall the old product but that is when I got the Key Error.

I understand that I have to go all the way back to the "full" version if I want to reinstall MF4. BTW this is a real pain. When I buy the upgrade (and I've bought a few) why can't I reinstall with a key or something. I assume if I continue to by upgrades to DVDMF over the next few years, I will still have to reinstall MF3 to get the upgrade to work. Seems like it could be dangerous to unistall MF3 (even if I could) because when I upgrade again (in say 3 yrs time) I might not be able to find the original MF3 disk???

Any thoughts anyone?

Same problem.
When I start the program (DVDMF 4 + upgrade3) first I have to click 'Yes' to DVDMF! A Key Error.
What the hell is this?

I ran into the same problem. I reinstalled MF4 and chose repair and then reapplied the newest patch and everything works great.
