All seemed well until about half way through burning the movie to a mpeg2 file... then this error - does anyone recognise it/know how to fix it?

Here's a thread that might help. This user encountered and resolved the 2000:1:1 error in VS6. A much older version, but the potential "fix" would apply to VS9 as well.

I'd also recommend that you read the sticky at the top of the board titled "AVOID PROBLEMS: USE RECOMMENDED PROCEDURE FOR VIDEO STUDIO" which explains the procedure for properties matching along with other helpful info.
