Problem from Trial to purchased version.
I used the trial version of VS9 to put together a vacation video. I really liked the product so I purchased it. After I installed it, when I call up my video project file that I created with the trial...all the content is gone from the timeline. Anyone have any idea what happened to the editing. I though it was all kept in the VSP file which I saved. Did I lose some other file when deleting the trial version? Thanks for any advise.

Hi jrd,
I'm not an authority on VS9 but with other video apps I've inadvertently saved updated project files to the wrong folder. It's possible the file you're opening could have been created in the early stages of your project. If you haven't already done so, I would recommend a "wildcard" search on the VSP file extension, i.e.; *.VSP to see if any subsequently saved versions of your project file are lurking elsewhere on your computer.
I'm assuming you haven't moved or deleted any of the clips you used in the project. If so, you would need to do some re-linking.
As for opening project files (created in trial version) with your registered version of VS9, I'm not aware any issues.

That's really strange. My only guess would be your VSP file somehow became corrupt. You might want to drag a few clips and transitions to your timeline and save them as a test project just for the purpose of re-opening later to make sure it won't be an ongoing problem. Also, when creating "real" projects, play it safe by using the "save as" feature often, altering the project name each time, i.e.; my_project_rev_1, my_project_rev_2, etc. This will save you the hassle of having to start from scratch if one of your project files goes bad. I've only been reading this board for a few months but I don't recall running across any similar postings. Hopefully the problem won't happen again.
