Import VS9 Project - is this a bug?

Post by sjj1805 »

Is this a fault with my installation or a bug?

Firstly I rendered 4 short clips in VS9 (using the same settings shown below) This way I knew I had 4 "clean" clips.

I placed those 4 short clips in Video Studio 9 and saved them as a project file.
Then I opened them with Media Studio 8 they were all there OK.

I went back into Video Studio 9 and inserted transitions between the clips.
Saved the project.

Opened the project again in Media Studio 8, this time only two clips are displayed on the timeline. All 4 clips are listed in "Project Settings" clips 1 and 3 are displayed but clips 2 and 4 are missing. I checked all the other video tracks, they are not there.

When I create a Video,All 4 files do appear in the video.

Anyone else has this problem or have a few small clips they can use to recreate the above to see if its my installation or a bug?

Another observation I have made is the "Switch" facility to open up other Ulead programs.

I have 7 in my list:-
1. Audio Editor
2. CG Infinity
3. Ulead Cool 360
4. Ulead DVD Workshop
5. Ulead Video Studio
6. Video Capture
7. Video Paint.

a) Ulead Cool 360 refuses to do anything (Yes I have a copy on my system, even re-installed it after noticing this error)

b) I Also have Ulead Cool 3D (It comes bundled with VS9 but is installed seperately from the 'bonus disk') This program however does not appear in the above list.

How can I import VS9 project files? I'm working with the trial version so perhaps it's not in there??

Firstly from VS9 choose "File save" or File "Save as".
Now from Media Studio choose File Open.

It doesn't work properly for me. I can open the VS9 file in MSP8 OK but there are no transitions or titles.

I wrote the following only yesterday, in a different thread on this same forum. Surely this says it all???
I don't know how many times I've said in this forum (and others) that you should always finish a project in the version in which it was started and that applies to all kinds of software, except where the author specifically states it is compatible with files generated in earlier versions. Ulead have never claimed that MSP8 is 100% compatible with any earlier version. Start in MSP 7.3, finish in MSP7.3. Every effort has been made to make v. 8 as compatible as possible with earlier versions (and VS9), but it is as clear as daylight that, whereas it is easy to import the files and general layout, the way of handling effects (especially titles) is radically different, so these have to be re-done if you do try it.
