flickering in dvd

Post by jamcrky »

Hello everyone......I recently captured some film (panisonic handicam) using my video capture in media pro 6.5, and then burned into a dvd using movie factory 2.0.

The problem is there is a lot of flickering in the finished DVD. I captured at 720x480 and 6000 kpps. What am I doing wrong this is my 2nd attempt to record this film.

Thanks for all the help, Jim

jamcrky, I hope someone will be able to answer this question as I posted a similar one on Jan7, 80 people have looked at it, but that is all no help.
I wanted to make sure at least you get an answer even though it might not help. I have contacted Ulead twice. I received one answer that wasn't any help. :( All the best to you.

Are you sure you have the correct field order set?
Is your Panasonic camcorder a DVD camcorder or DV camcorder?
What are your full capture settings in MSP?
What are the clip properties in MSP and DMF?
What are your project setting in MSP and DMF?

I know the camcorder is simply a analog tape, not digital. I dont what the settings where, but can you tell me what they should be, and then I can compare them to see if set right.....

If its an analog camcorder, what device are you using to capture it to the computer?
What are the capture settings?

I am using a ati 7500 radeon video card....this is an area that always confusing me and i wish I had more specific info for you....I am using the video capture software in MPS 6.5. I have use the software from the ATI card to record video would this be more effective....thanks and remember patience is a virtue PHD :D :D :D

I have found that using a constant bitrate works much better than the variable. Only the two-pass variable, which I am not sure that MF3 has seems to work as well as constant and allows a smaller file.

If your using the ATI all in wonder card that can capture analog
video then use the following settings to capture a direct
Mpg2 dvd compliant file.

Format = Mpg
Format = Mpeg2 - DVD
De-interlacing options = Encode Interlaced
Audo Format = 48khz 16 bit Stereo
Standard NTSC
Resolution = 720 x 480
(Next Screen)
P Frames = 4
B Frames = 2
Closed GOP's = Yes (checked)
(Next Screen)
Variable Bit Rate = Yes
Max Bit Rate 8000kbs - 9000kbs (I use 9500kbs)
Target Bit Rate = 6000kbs - 7000kbs
Motion Estimation Quality = 80+ , Try 100%, if drop frames then lower the setting.
Audio Encoding 224kbs - 256kbs

Use the "One Touch Record" Icon to set the capture directory.
