non linear editing

Post by vjkarna »

What is the advantage of the non linear programs over Ulead. I have looked at Adobe Premier which looks rather complicated and apart from the multiple video tracks I do not understand the advantages?

Well, last time I checked, ULEAD VS and MSP were actually non linear editing programs :?

non-linear is the trem used for editing on a computer, linear is the old tape-to-tape style of editing, on linear, you can't change your mind halfway through, and easily fix it, you have to go back and re-do it all.

Multiple video and audio tracks

Post by Ian Rietschel »

The advantages of multiple video tracks are for multi camera editing. For example used for a multi camera shoot for a concert. Also multi video tracks are useful in creating video overlays with opacity settings for visual effects. I am far from an expert but I have a professional editor that works for me and I have seen some of the stuff he has done for me using multi video tracks and it is great!

Having multi audio track are good for doing voice overs, music and sound effects on each track and rubber banding them to suit the right audio output levels.

Multi Video Tracks are quite useful where you don't want to lose some cherished holiday moments but....
You want to speed the video along a bit to stop boredom creeping in!!!
