ULead: you lost a customer, you need to fix the bugs
I just wanted to inform ULead that after trying the demo, I have decided not to buy Moivie Factory due to the audio/video out of sync issue on the DVDs it creates, this is obviosuly a common problem and I can garantee I would have bought Movie Factory if it worked properly, it is by FAR the best interface and has the most options, I really liked it, but when I saw it makes unwatchable DVDs, it all fell down.
You really need to fix the audio sync issue, the very same file in NeroVision express burns and plays perfectly on my DVD player, it's much harder to use than Movie Factory, but at least it works.
I'd recommend you correct this serious issue which renders your product absolutely useless unless your files do not need converting.
If ever you fix this, I will probably buy your software because other than this bug that makes it useless, it was by far the best.
Very dissapointed ex-potential customer

Mine were just unacceptable, I want to archive TV recordings and want them to be perfect, but these had the sound like 30-60 seconds out of sync at times, I would see someone jump of a building and you just hear him talking, and then when he's on the ground he goes AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH while the video shows him talking, it's just ridiculous.
I might use Nero VisionExpress, it's nowhere near as good as ULead (if it worked), but at least it works.

afaik, even other software from other companies have AV sync issues. im using MovieFactory without any AV sync problem.
check your source videos cause this are the usual suspects of AV sync. If the software is really producing DVDs with , then all the copies released should be having it as well.

I do have issues with movie factory but I've never seen sync that far out - its usually just a tiny bit out that makes lip sync seem a bit off. If you don't need AC3 support try movie factory 3 - its dead cheap from the ulead mal - and it works better then MF4 on a lot of machines (although heinz-oz will tell you MF4 is perfect).
me too!
Ah ok I thought I was the only one with the Video/Audio Sync Issues. After using Media Pro 8 and Encoding...and upon playback of the video file on my computer, the audio/video sync was fine. Once I authored the video file using Movie Factory 4, there was a slight...very slight sync issue w/ the the audio and video. I've tried different video data rates and different audio options when authoring but the sync issue is still there. If its just the software then I might have to eat it and move on to another authoring program.
if you are using MSP8, create a video file using the NTSC DVD (or PAL if your on this region). this will create a compliant MPEG DVD file that MovieFactory will skip encoding when you burn it to DVD.
As long as you dont edit the video file within MovieFactory and the "Do not convert compliant..." in the Project Settings is turned on, it will skip encoding the video. (since you have MSP, do all of the editing there).
If you edited the compliant video in MovieFactory, try customizing the project settings and match it with your video's properties. it will only render the edited parts of the video.

Where would I take the confidence from? To tell everybody MF4 is perfect I would have to use it as well, wouldn't I?keithm wrote:I do have issues with movie factory but I've never seen sync that far out - its usually just a tiny bit out that makes lip sync seem a bit off. All I know is that I had terrible sync problems with MSP 7 and, after listening to a lot of advice from different sources, last but not least from Terry, and changing some of my hardware, the problem is gone.
I refuse to blame the software because there are a lot of people out there using it without problems and, in my particular case, I was able to solve my issues by changing hardware. It may well be that MF 4 has a sync issue. I can't judge that since I don't use it yet.

aab,
I can understand your frustration but you haven't give us any clues to pinpoint the cause of yout out of synch problems.
Where did you obtain your original footage, Camcorder, TV Card ?
Was the original footage in MPEG format or AVI?
MPEG is not designed to be edited by your standard video editing programs, ulead, pinnacle, nero etc. To edit an MPEG file you need a specialist MPEG editor like Womble.
AVI files do not normally produce out of synch problems, if they have you need to give us some information regarding how you captured the video and what you did with it afterwards.
Think of an AVI as a still image bitmap - large in file size.
Think of an MPEG as a JPEG file - compressed - smaller file size.
Just as you would/should enhance still images in its uncompressed format you should do the same with video's, you should edit the AVI. You later convert the AVI to an MPEG once all your editing has been completed.

AVI or MPEG?
Hey sjj1805. I'm just wondering though, if MPEG is not designed to be edited by the standard editing programs, why is it tht when you start Media Studio Pro 8 you are given the option to open an AVI file or an MPEG file? Is MSP 8 considered higher than what you're saying is 'standard'. I'd figure that if video files were meant to be edited as AVI then later converted, then Ulead or any other software should not be giving the user the option to Capture the video as mpeg and the same goes for allowing the selection of Mpeg to be opened in the editing programs. I'm just fairly new to all of this and if there's a reason why they give us the option between avi or mpeg editing i'd love to know why. Same goes for audio as mp3 or .wav when editing etc. My guess is that they give the users the option because of the file size connection?
