I've installed a trial version of MSP 7 and am using a Matrox Marvel G400 capture card. When I add a captured MJPEG AVI file to the timeline and double-click it, I get the message 'No combination of intermediate filters can be found to make the connection' and error code 17106:3:4. The file can be previewed in the preview window, but it won't play in the source window. Other file types, i.e. MOV or MPEG work fine. I've ordered a proper upgrade package from Amazon (whilst I can still get one now that MSP 8 is out) and I'm now concerned that I'm going to hit the same snag. Ulead haven't responded to my enquiries thus far. Does anyone know if this is a problem in the final release?
Thanks.

The obvious first question is which MJPEG codec are you using as your default? I recommend PICVideo.

The MJPEG codec that I'm using is whatever the Matrox G400 Marvel capture board uses. What that is called I have no idea, but as I recall from my old Rainbow Runner, it's simply listed as Matrox MJPEG. Are you using a Matrox card at all yourself or simply a software codec, as ideally I need confirmation from another Matrox user to be certain about this problem?
Thanks for your help thus far however.

I stopped using Marvel a number of years ago, because it would not work in Win2k (or, later, XP). However, I believe, since then, a 3rd party Marvel driver has been developed which allows capture. I don't know how effective it is.
I suggest you download PICVideo MJPEG codec, bring that into your defaults and I believe you should have no further problems. Better still, upgrade from Marvel, which is now antiquated technology: there is better available with much less hassle (I use a Canopus ADVC-100 for analogue capture and would say it is both better and easier to use with fewer dropped frames than the old Marvel; I do no regret the change by one iota).

Thanks for the advice regarding this problem. I finally got some answers from the Technical Support at Ulead UK, who basically said (after some suggestions that I'd already tried regarding the ulead32.ini file) that the jump from MSP6 to 7 has resulted in what they describe as an 'End of life' card not being supported. So effectively, the Marvel is dead and buried and your suggestion of an alternative card looks like the best option. I will try the PICVideo codec however and I'll look into the Canopus as well.
I'm very grateful for the advice.
