Is VS9 worth it and how best to buy the upgrade?

Post by RedExpress »

Hi,

Read a lot of the board re VS9 and people seem to unhappy with downloads, tech support and patches.

I have VS8 SE and am thinking of buying the box version.

VS8 is a problem because of the non linkage to the timeline so Ripple Editing is my main driver.

Does the box come with the other 750 MB of stuff or do I have to download this? On a dial up that's a pretty scary idea.

Must I load the patches or are they specific to only some users? How big are they?

Is there a worldwide site that has a cheaper version I can obtain?

Cheers!

I too was sceptical about upgrading from ver8 but i took the plunge and bought the boxed version to avoid the download probs. All the xtra stuff is included in the box, i am more than happy that i did as it has been trouble free to this point.

I have been using Video Studio since v6 and v9 is by far the best and most stable. It's a shame that 98% of what you read on this forum is people's problems when, in fact, it is a very good program and many, many people have had success with little or no problems.

I would order the boxed version. Yes, it is complete with all the extra content. As you have read, there have been problems with the download. Loading from the cd was completely problem free.

I have not applied any of the patches or updates and v9 works like a charm.

GO FOR IT!

Hi Red

Upgrade to 9

VS 8 was just a pain. I have a spare full version 8 and would not give it away. Version 8 was the worst version i have used since 5.

But lets look on the bright side Version 9 seems to be at the moment the best they have produced.

7 wasn't bad, maybe its the odd numbers that are good.

Go for Version 9

The people that write to this forum have a problem.

There are thousands that dont need this forum.

I upgraded to VS9 as soon as it was available. No regrets.

VS9 has been stable from start to finish of projects.........

With a decent pc & hd, VS9 should work as designed.....
iMac AIO (late 2012)
Windows 7 (bootcamp)
VS Pro X3
8gb RAM
1 - 1TB HD
1 - 120 SSD
1 - 2TB External HD
Panasonic DVC-30

Hi Guys,

This is certainly the right forum to get a totally unbiased view ..eh?

By and large... even those who have had problems with downloads and the like eventually become hooked on VS9.. It must be one of the easiest video editing programs to use once you get past the few idiosyncrasies. The message that I would give, is persevere... keep having a go, post your sensible questions on this board... instead of looking for high buildings to jump off.. When you finally stop making coasters and see your work up on the TV.. it will all seem very worthwhile..

I downloaded my version from the UK website... Had no problems at all.. The Smart Downloader smoothly delivered the 755MB of extra content without the slightest hitch...

Go for it and enjoy..

Thanks folks, I'm going to go ahead. I've only done one significant presentation in VS8 (for my mother -in-law's birthday) about 40 minutes and the response was awesome, so with a more improved version it might take less time and better a smoother process.

Thanks for the tips at the top of this board as it may never have been completed!!
