MPEG4 Plug-In For VideoStudio 9

Post by tonycoops »

Got my copy of VS9 yesterday and immediately registered it online. I then went to download the "Free MPEG9 plug-in", only to be constantly blocked or sent to an ftp site which also told me to "go away".....
I then sent an email to tech support, who replied with "we have now reset our server, and you should be able to download from our website". Well, I tried again during the night and straight away got a message saying "You have already downloaded this 5 times".
Well, actually I have not downloaded it at all yet, but I'm desperate to do so as my digital camera exports MPEG4 video files. The only reason I got VS9 is because it would support MPEG4 with the plug-in.
I tried phoning tech support this morning, but for some reason they are closed today, and so I have sent another email, but so far, no reply.
So, having wittered on a bit there, can anybody offer any advise as to what I do next. Or, and I'm not sure if this is ok or not, can anybody send me a copy of the file.? Presumably as it is free, then it's ok to do that.
If so, can you send it to
tonyspics@btinternet.com
because I'm not sure that my Hotmail account will be able to cope with it.
Thanks for your help.
Tony.

I have a similar problem. I have a registered copy of VS9. I tried to download both the HDV and MPEG-4 plugins several times with no luck. When I finally got connected to the FTP server, my connection kept getting terminated and eventually I received the message "too many users, try again later" When I tried again later, the message says I have already submitted my serial number five times and I can no longer download the plugins. Well, I have never successffuly downloaded either plugin and support is not answering my emails asking how to get the plugins. I don't think much of their plugin download system.

I had the same problem downloading the MPEG4 Plug-in

Here is what I had to do to get it to download.

1-Download & install Net Transport @ http://www.xi-soft.com/default.htm
2-Make a new download job in the Net Transport application window
3-Paste the URL and hit the Start/Go button

Net Transport will keep retrying the connection until it successfully completes. I had to let it run overnight. Net Transport had to keep retrying over 10,000 times before it was finally able to retrieve the download. Great little application.

My problem is that now that I have the file, when I go to install it asks for the activation key which I enter. It spins for about 60 seconds then a window pops up and says " DoPush or Parameter error. "

I assume it is having to back channel authenticate probably to the same Tawianese server which is obviously overburdened.

Let me know how far you get. Also, can either of you post the FTP link they sent you so I can compare it to mine. Thanks guys. I hope we can get this figured out. The more heads the better.

Thanks for the advice guys, will keep you posted as to how I get on.

Here's the ftp link that you requested...........

ftp://MP4PSP:7E3GEZZE@private.ulead.com.tw/MP4

By the way, I did manage to download the HDTV plug-in straight away, but as of yet have not succeeded with the one I want.

Customer Service replied finally and sent me a link to an FTP site. I was able to download both plugins (after a few tries). However, as mentioned above, the installation asks for an activation code which I did not receive. The VS9 serial number obviously is not the activation code. At least I have the plugins now. If I can just get the activation code from customer service, maybe I can get these things installed! :?

For those who recently purchased VS9, check the confirmation email (elec. receipt) or the registration auto email for the Activation code. It should be included there.

For those who are having problems with the "5 times..." error, make sure your popblockers are disable or is accepting popups from www.ulead.com

Personally, i've had problems when using IE so i tried using Opera browser to get the plugin.

If the activation code is not on one of the emails you received, its probably in the pop window where the download link for the plugin is located. Be sure to keep that code for future use.

Contact their technical support if you are still having problems with the plugin downloads.

I was able to download SONY HDTV plugin, after some difficulties.

I am still unable to download MPEG4 plugin.
I get the message "too many users, try again later" from IE5
Also, I used an FTP soft, and got the same message.

I sent a message to the Customer Service.

I too get the 'Too many users' repeatedly over several days, and I am using Firefox. Several weeks into their availability, I still have not been able to download anything.

SUCCESS AT LAST, WITH THE MPEG4 PLUG-IN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by tonycoops »

At last I have finally managed to get the MPEG4 plug-in, and whats more it even works. I tried the site a couple of times earlier today, but they were obviously having problems. I have just tried it about 20 minutes ago (10pm UK time), and although it was still a little slow, and with 2 or 3 clicks on the "back button" when the link apprently went nowhere, it suddenly burst into life and started downloading.
As I said it even works too, because I tried it in VS9 straight away. I can now happily import my MPEG4 video clips without having to convert them to MPEG2 files first.

Oh, bliss bliss, the world is a wonderful place.....................

Good luck to you all, go give it a try.

Thanks again for all your comments and advice.

Well, tech support reset my serial number so I didn't get the "already submitted five time" error. I was finally able to get a download box to popup which contained an activation code. I wrote down the code and it was also sent to me in email. I started the MPEG4 installation entered the activation code (I tried typing it in and cutting and pasting from email) and I got an "invalid activation code" error. Why does Ulead make this soooo difficult???

Still No Joy!

:( :( :( :(

Neither Tech Support nor Customer Service answer my requests for an activation code that works. I have the plugin, I have an activation code (same one emailed to me twice) that does not work. Hello, Ulead! Anyone home?

Well I'm further than you because the download was OK, I have the code and it is accepted but then the install complains it can't access the internet.
No wonder, my video editing machine has no ethernet card...

I'm still trying to figure why this plugin wants to access internet.
Oh well...

My theory - The plugin installation wants to access the Internet to check the activation code to see if it is valid and to make sure it has not been entered more than 5 times. I think Ulead wants to discourage the passing around of activation codes to non-registered users :D

They are likely also required to pay royalties based on the number of copies they distribute, and would therefore have to have a way of limiting how many users / machines use the same copy.
