Combining MPEG captured by VS

Post by Michael Dunn »

Hello all

Using VS8SE

I have been successful in capturing VHS for conversion to DVD.
These are 'old' Hollywood movies, not available on DVD and no longer
available on VHS.

To save all the writing/converting/shrinking to the notebook's hard disk,
I set up an external hard disk, which worked great for the capturing
(mpeg), but the file was split - 1 x 4gb and 1 x 1.6gb
(I think I have to change the ext hard disk from fat32 to ntfs)

I thought I might be able to join them via dvdshrink (after conversion to .vob's).
The 4gb file converted OK to .vob files, but the 1.6gb conversion didn't
create any TF(?) or BU files, so dvdshrink couldn't work with the 1.6gb .vob's

I know very little about VS (just enough to select the template and click
capture, stop capture, save project = no), and was wondering if there was
a simple way in VS to import both .mpg files and splice/join them into 1
file - or would it be easier to re-capture the VHS (ensuring it captures into
a single file)

Simple.
Just drop both MPEG files onto the VS9 timeline and create a new file.

Now create your DVD from the new file.

the instructions are here: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodte ... rtfat.mspx
