I'm a newbie and I'm trying to make a video with still images. The images, unfortunately, all are different shapes and sizes, and so they show up in some frames as a picture against the black background.
What is a good size to make my still images to avoid this, and have them fill the entire preview screen? Or can someone tell me how VS9 resizes (what the aspect ratio is) so that I can blend my images onto a black background that will still look nice once loaded into VS9?
Recommend Still Image Size?

Hi,
Normal Aspect Ratio is 4:3 and Widescreen is 16:9. Cropping your original images directly in proportion to these ratios should give you the result you need. Take note though, that UVS preview will show widescreen format with a black band top and bottom of the frame. However, the video if rendered to DVD should fit a widescreen TV OK.. File size is dependant on the required quality, so has to at least relate to the size of the video frame you will be rendering to. Bigger is better than smaller and UVS will down-size the image to fit the project video settings. Why not try a few images inserted to the timeline ...default duration is 6 seconds. Slip a crossfade between each slide (in Storyboard view) insert a colour clip at each end and you can fade into the slide show and out of the slide show. add titles and whatever... even a music track from the library.. 20 minutes of work will give you a short slide show that you can preview and pass judgement upon..
Good Luck
