1) DVD folders and.iso files and 2)Burn preparation time

First Query
Fairly new to VS9 and slowly beginning to understand it, but...
On the final burn screen I'm offered the opportunity to Create DVD folders and to Create disc image file. My query is, if I want to burn later, which should I choose? When is one appropriate and when is the other better. Having chosen either of these options, how do I recover/reinput from either of these locations in order to burn? Sorry if I'm being thick, but would really appreciate help on this.

Second query- I input some stuff from a dvd and edited it, then burned it. The preparation sequence took twice as long as the playtime of the final dvd. Is this normal? Seeing as the stuff was dvd format to begin with it seems odd - bear in mind my experience of this stuff is about zero - but I'm really suprised . Hope someone can help - Many thanks

Hi

Read my User Guides from the link below.

The Share guide answers some of the first query.

Read the top post, re:-recommended procedure.
Also read the Quick guides for Mpeg and Avi
These should answer the second query.

The preparation sequence should have been done in Share Create Video File prior to doing Share-Create Disc.

Hope this Helps

Further to Trevor's answer, re the second question, once you have your DVD-compatible file from Share > Create Video File > DVD, when you open the burning module to actually burn it to disc, make sure you check the box against 'Do not convert compliant mpeg files' which is in the little cogwheel Options icon in the bottom left of the burning screen. That should also ensure that the production process time is kept to a minimum. But be aware that, depending on your computer, the production time in the burning stage can take anything from somewhat less than real time to anything up to three times or more real time; and you have to add about 15 minutes burning time to this for a full single layer 4x DVD, though less of course for faster discs, and more of course for dual layer discs...
