MSP 8.0 Academic Upgrade Price is $179.00!

I am a registered user of MSP since 6.5. I purchased the original version (6.5) at the academic price. I was somewhat shocked by the significantly higher upgrade price of $249 which doesn't include Videographics Lab that was included with the earlier versions. So, I checked academic prices on MSP 8.0 at Academic Superstore. The Upgrade price is $179!! I find it rather odd that I can get MSP 8.0 for the academic price more cheaply than the upgrade price. I guess there are some benefits to being an educator after all.

This really isn't too unusual, and it often benefits not only educators but also students.

Yes indeed. Great benefit to students. I'm guessing that upgrade price will be effective for users of VS7?

I'm a student, and I purchased MSP7 off of Academic Superstore about 1 year ago for only $99.99 I was very pleased with that deal...

I'f I'm not mistaken, that $180 price tag is actually an upgrade version of MSP8, with an academic discount on top of that...

Yeah, I just checked, the 'full' version of MSP8 is $289.95, while the upgrade is 179..

EDIT: wait... i think i just understood what you were saying in the first post... yeah, I guess I actually don't find it weird that the academic one is cheaper than the regular upgrade... i dont know. well, i'm happy that ulead doesn't appear to be changing the versions that are available on academic sites, for example, removing features or anything like that. I bought Adobe After Effects 6.5 "Professional" from academicsuperstore, but I found that there were significant , to me anyway, parts of the program left out for the "educational version" -- and get this -- if I would've bought the academic discounted price of AE6.5 pro, then all the other missing parts separately, i would've been better off just getting the regular ae6.5 pro directly from adobe's website

It seems that upgrade is not available anymore. That price has disappeared.

I don't know what to tell you. I bought it at Academic Superstore for $179.00 not long after I posted the original message. Sometimes if something isn't in stock, the item isn't listed. You might try calling them to see if it will be in stock soon.
