Time to move up?
I have been using Ulead Video Studio 8 for about a year and like what it does. I hope to start doing documentaries. The question now is whether to move up to Media Studio Pro. I don't do much fancy stuff, just focus on good editing. Is there any reason to move up? Is MSP that much better? Is this a no-brainer? I understand that MSP gives one more flexibility, but is a little more difficult to use for this reason. Thanks.

If you would ever need to use more than one graphic or audio layer and/or 5.1 audio then it's a good move. If, on the other hand, you're a cuts-only editor who will only use one graphics layer (such as for titles) and only use stereo audio then VS9 is your better option.
When weighing these also take into consideration the old saw "never say never". As editors grow in experience so do their needs, and often quite unexpectedly.
