mpeg-2 or DVD

Post by missnz »

Hello everyone, I need to know. It is possible to use mpeg-2 files to make a DVD because of interference on the video downlink from the satellite or the rebroadcasting from the satellite. There is interference on the videotape in the bottom right-hand corner. I have discovered if I make it in mpeg-2 rather than DVD the interference turns into a green patch over that part of the picture and it lead makes it watchable. What I am not sure about is when I make a DVD. Can I use the mpeg-2.

DVD standard is based on mpeg2. Hence, the answer to your question is yes. However, I'm not sure about the hardware/software you have. Do you have DVD authoring software?

Where do you intend to use the footage? PC or DVD player?

Firstly I would try and sort out the interference to avoid the problem in the first place. Does your satelite dish need re-alignment?
In the meantime, if you place your video on the timeline you can use the crop filter and cut away the "bad" area rather like the effect you get when watching a widescreen picture on a 'normal' TV set.

Alternatively place the video on the overlay track and you can now stretch it so that you can drag the affected area off the screen.

Whichever method produces the most pleasing results for you.
