VideoStudio 8 Crashes on start

Upon starting VideoStudio 8 i get an error which WinXP SP2 tells me is this:

AppName: vstudio.exe AppVer: 7.9.9.9 ModName: gtphaser.dll
ModVer: 12.1.1.43 Offset: 000a2994

I've reinstalled and installed the patch on the support pages of the website but i still get the message. It closes down the program completly.

Any ideas of a workaround?

Make sure that your system's specs reach, if not exceed the minimum system requirements of VideoStudio. Turning off other running apps and removing plugged external devices before running VS is a great help. If you still get that error, try reinstalling it; sometimes, a simple reinstallation could solve problems like this.

It used to run ok with WinME but since i upgraded to WinXP Prof SP2 i've had nothing but problems. Already tried a reinstall but to no avail.
