File read error 20379:1:107 when using Image Matte

Post by BrianWesthead »

After losing 3 hours of editing in MSP7.3 the other night (I saved the project 12 times to different files during that time but all files were unreadable :( ) I identified a problem in using Image Matte in OverlayOptions. Much to my disappointment the same bug is present in MSP8 preview (I just lost my remaining reason for paying the £119 'update' fee. I actually don't need any of the new features, but I was prepared to pay for some bug fixes...).

Try this:
1. Drag a GIF onto a track (my GIF was 720x576).
2. Select Overlay Options
3. Select Mask/Image Matte.
4. Select the same image as the mask
5. Save the project

Then attempt to re-open the project. Depending on how it feels you either get a File Reading error 20379:1:107, or the editor simply crashes. This reproduces solidly on two machines and with MSP7.3 and MSP8 preview for me. Anyone else experienced this? (I expect you'll say why are you selecting the same image as the Image Matte...)

Hi Brian

I brought up this issue during beta testing and it was fixed. If you download the trial version and not the preview one, it saves and opens without problem.

.....sorry :( having said that, my issue was with TIFs and TGAs which was fixed.

GIFs don't work... so you would have to convert your GIFs to another format while we wait for SP1. :(

Thanks for trying this for me - always nice to know you're not being stupid. Have posted this with ULead tech support.
