Next thought: do you have any packet-writing software, like NeroInCD, installed? That sometimes causes a conflict and in effect it removes other programs' (like VS) access to the burner. InCD in particular cannot be disabled, so I found the best way was simply to uninstall it and use the packet-writing software that is a part of XP. Other such software (Roxio has one though I forget its name) may allow you to disable it without uninstalling.

I have Adobe DVD studio and Roxio. Those ones need to be disabled you think?

I am assuming by packet writing software you mean anything I would use to burn CD's and DVDs?

With Roxio's Drag-To-Disc program, you can right-click on the utility's icon in the System Tray and select "Exit" to shut the program down before burning a DVD using Videostudio. You don't need to uninstall the program.

And don't worry about the Adobe program. It isn't packet-writing software.

Hey folks,

Great news!! In addition to unsintalling all possible DVD burning conflicting software, my husband installed a new video card and expanded the RAM for me. A little houskeeping on the PC and the burn occurred!

We just finished testing the DVD on a player and the TV. The quality is great. A couple of clips have timing of sound and picture out of synch, so I have to try and figure that out, but otherwise I am thrilled to bits.

I am going to plug on to get this project finished and hopefully not have too many more challenges.

You international superheros who are experts and so helpful and patient are the best. Thank you. :D
