Three days tring to get Ulead's Movie Factory to work on my Dell 2350 / P4 -512 MB, 2.0Ghz, 60 Gig HD running XPSP2. What a train wreck. They should rename this product "Not responding"
Got thru to help desk but no help. Virtually every command/click brings the system down. Removed applications, defragged several times ( over 70% of HD is empty and all contiguous. Removed and reloaded MF3, removed all possible competing applications (i.e. Roxio) .
Using MF3 for capture. Cannot seem to capture entire 45 min VHS video. Although it previews the entire 45 minutes, file does not contain the data.
Tried to insert chapters - not responding
Tried to burn to plexitor DVD burner -not responding
Tried to move from capture screen to editing screen - not responding
Does anyone see a pattern in these postings? This product is a waste of time and money. Any good alternatives / success stories out there?
Remarkably lousy software !

Please tell us:
What capture device do you use?
Any audio/video CODEC packs installed in your system? Please use AVICodec to find out.
How do you use the burner? Via internal connection or external connection?
Have you installed updates and patches for DVD MovieFactory??
Hope this helps.

Hello.
I apoligize I have no technical experience with this.
I can only sympothize with you on this. I was so frustrated in not being able to burn a DVD I virtually gave up for a year. I got this Pioneer deck with the U Lead movie factory 2 SE that came with it for Christmas a year ago! Now, I am trying again now that I clean installed the computer, and the Dell is working great. Still can't get the damn DVD burner working. Not even after 6 replies to my recent error message..."Drive not Ready."
I don't know .. I asked some computer geek friends, and they said the first choice is Nero, which (I believe) is ULead as well? I don't know, last time I tried a year ago using Windows Picture Maker, that didn't work either?
(Sure does appear on the board some obvious pattern.)
Best of luck.. if you get any blarring suggestions I would be interested.

The software Nero should definitely work with your Pioneer drive.
The software Nero will not fix the problem using the drive under
MovieFactory. That is ulead related.
But, using MF you either create an ISO file or dvd folders on the
harddrive. Then use Nero to burn the actual Dvd.
At the videoguys web page there was information on a pioneer drive
that had to be run in PIO mode and not DMA. Believe that is fixed by
a firmware upgrade. For the old A06 drive maybe.
Nero ultra edition also has video, capturing and dvd creation in
the full package software.

Still no joy !
Tech support tells me that Cyberlink/ PowerDVD has hijacked my video decoder default and this establishes a conflict with movie factory 3, thus massive seizures!
I apparently loaded a roxio bundled pack of sw when I installed a plexitor dvd burner that included PowerDVD. Tried removing and reloading MF3 on the grounds that it may work better if it was the last DVD application loaded. it didn't solve the problem.
Apparently, i am trying to load the LIGOS video decoder. HOW, I dont have a clue!

Iam using a DVD Express external USB 2.0 connected capture device from ADS
Video decoder is cyberlink
Plexitor burner is internally mounted

It depends on what PowerDVD version you are using. As I know, PowerDVD 3 and 4 will conflict with Ulead products, but PowerDVD 5 and 6 are OK.lwolff123 wrote:I don't believe Power DVD is a problem, I have used it along side ULead for years. Roxio completely hosed my system and eventually it had to be wiped clean because there was no way to get rid of it, including Roxio's own fixes.

Roxio will also be the conflict problem if you are using Roxio Easy CD Creator 6 or earlier because it will install many unstable drivers in the system and it's very difficult to clean them in the system, sometimes you will need to install the system from scratch to solve the problem.
Hope this helps.
