Importing MPEG files after converting from Matrox Converter

Post by mjanes »

When trying to import MPEG files after converting Adobe Premier AVI & WAV files using the Matrox converter, I am unable to import successfully, any video longer than 50 minutes. The MPEG seems to be OK as it plays perfectly well on a Windows Media PLayer. In Workshop, the files show only 7 minutes (Mark-in/Mark-out). If I limit the duration to 45mins, everything is OK.

This is the first time I've used Workshop so am not sure whether I am doing anything wrong. I still haev 12Gb free so it doesn't seem to be disk space.

I'm assuming the "Matrox Converter" is a software (or hardware) MPEG encoder and you're using it to multiplex you audio and video into a DVD compliant MPEG 2 file.

Have you considered using your AVI and WAV files directly and allowing DVD Workshop to do the encoding. It can be slow, but it can produce excellent quality.

Now when I assume I make an A$$ out of U and ME

If I'm wrong, could you be a little bit more specific with your question.

Hope this helps

There is a good possibility that your MPEGs are corrupted. I've had corrupted MPEGs a few times. All of my bad MPEGs played OK with Windows Media Player, but they caused Workshop to crash, and produced DVDs with the dreaded "lip-syc" problem.

So like the britisher said, let Workshop encode your MPEGs. If your AVI files are OK, this should work.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try Workshop for encoding AVI and WAV files.
