Definite answer to 71% burning problems anyone?

Post by roycymru »

Hi

Hope you can help, as I am not entitled to Technical help from Ulead as I am trying a demo version of CD and DVD pictureshow 4 (and Photoexplorer 8). On both I am unable to burn to DVD as I get "Windows has encountered a problem error" at around 71% way through the burning process. I don't want to by the full product if I can't get this problem resolved. Therefore if anyone (moderator?) can provide a definite answer it would be of great help.

A solution given elsewhere by bryave is too vague "The 71% burning issue has been fixed already. I have mine up and running. Try contacting Ulead's tech support, I think they'll give some kind of an attachment and renaming it to .dll and paste into some directory. It really works, try it! ^_^"

Has anyone more specific info on this? As stated above I am not entitled to contact technical support to get this info/E-Mail. If someone else has has this E-Mail plus instructions perhaps they can post the link and the instructions?

Another solution given by Moszi's is "Maybe I found a solution for my burning problem (failed burn when phisical write begins). I searched update packs on Ulead site. I think, the my problem is in the DVD's file system. I know the PictureShow 3 working. I found an older patch for DVD writer component, maybe for PictureShow 3. I tried it because my software was disfunctional and I wanted reinstall it.
The update patch's name is "3617246.zip". The page: http://www.ulead.com/tech/general/burning_engine.htm
After this I installed the latest DVD burning patch ("ulead_burning3619281_pack.exe"). I tried DVD image burning hopelessly, but it's working! I don't tested it with direct burning. I want to play a sure game. (Sorry, my english is poor.)"

However this solution doesn't make sense. The zip files just unpack and do nothing functional. I resume these unzipped files need to be copied somewhere to work, but where?

:D Hi bryave, thanks very much replacing the LXDVDParser.dll in
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\DVD with the updated version solves the problem. Why Ulead can post this solution plus the correct version of the dll on their website or as a "sticky" beats me :? .

I guess they are still working on some other issues PictureShow 4 has. It could be that patch will come after all issues has been solved. It'll be all in one patch update... ^_^

Help!

Post by pfriederichs »

Could someone please EMail me the attachment -- i'm in the same boat as the guy from the other post -- I'm currently evaluating the demo so I dont have access to direct support.

I would highly appreciate it if someone could Email me the .DLL -- pfriederichs@gmail.com

I've been looking at this and ProShow Gold and my wife uses it alot so this looks like a better solution than ProShow (more simple interface).

Anyhow thanks! -- Paul

Definite answer to 71% burning problems anyone?

Received the file, thanks guys.

This seemed to have fixed the DVD burner error but there still seems to be many more bugs in the program. I tried my existing project but it continued to crash during the prep and burn process (it seemed to be whilst it was rendering the menus). I removed an AVI video I was using for the DVD startup and at the same time disabled the Motion Menu option (unfortunately I did remove these both at the same time) and the DVD burned successfully. Which one was the problem, I have no idea???

I've wasted so much time on this bug ridden program I truly wonder whether it is worth continuing with.

Pro Show Gold doesn't currently have all the features Pictureshow 4 has, even though it is very close and in some areas has more (eg create an EXE file, SCR file.....) , but it isn't bug ridden like this nor does it refuse to expand to enable full use of the screen size. The majority of the work is done in one simple window which is also user customisable.

I can't believe I have a 19inch screen (not unusual nowadays) with many people I know having or discussing purchasing larger screens and Ulead have removed the maximise button.

The maximise button has gone in Ulead Video Studio 9 though at least it automatically expands to make use of the fullscreen.

I may stand alone with this comment but sorry Ulead the front end of DVD Pictureshow 2 left these last two versions for dead and even that had problems. Design for ease of use and functionality not just pretty rounded edges. At least, give us the option of how we view it - introduce the optional skins as do so many other applications.

Have a good look at your competition Pro Show Gold design. It's not 100% and not 100% bug free I'm sure but it's a lot closer than any version of DVD PictureShow has been unfortunately.

What's happened to the standard resizable Window, Menus and Toolbars that the far majority of us use in nearly all other applications? I'm not playing a game nor are your applications on display in my house, all I wanted them for was to get my photos/videos on to a DVD. If I need to spend a fortune upgrading Ulead products every 6-12 months only to find they are disguised Beta releases, then .... argh I better stop.

What I'm saying is, yes the products are growing with features but nothing has been learnt nor improved.

A dissappointed longterm supporter of Ulead....

Not sure if the patch will solve my DVD burner problem because it fails at the point where either the image file is produced or the disc burned, but I would be grateful if you could send it to me at brian-hunt@ntlworld.com and I can try it - thanks in advance
