Sorry, I cannot help you. However, I have the same problem, and I also am using Win2k Pro......maybe it doesn't like Win2k Pro????

Have you tried the DV-to-DVD wizard? That also failed on me. I cannot seem to get any of this software to work.

For what it's worth - I can't help, but have similar problems in one context.
When transferring video from digital camcorder via firewire - no problem. However, when I try to use the camera as a pass-through for recording stuff from my VHS video recorder, the process usually fails.
Reason - don't know. Speculation - as part of the capture command, U9 sends an "order" to start the tape running in the camera. When using the camera as a pass-through, there is no tape present. If U9 is waiting for an acknowledgement that the tape is running, it will be disappointed, and may fall over.
If that's any help to anyone, good luck. I now capture my VHS stuff with MyDVD, and process it with VS9.
Have you tried capturing with Windows Movie Maker, or anything else?

rwindeyer,

Thanks for the reply. I have MyDvd, in fact, I bought it, but not for that reason, for Tivotogo......I forgot all about it. I initially used Nero, and it was able to capture the video to AVI, but when I attempted to convert to DVD format, it failed. AT this moment I am converting the file I captured using VS9 to DVD format using DivxToDvd, and it is processing. So I will see what happens.

I am going to attempt VS9 one more time just to see if I can get it to work. Ken Berry gave me some advice I had not attempted before, so I will give that a try, also.

Thanks again,
Trevor Andrew

trevor,

Thank you, I did see the 2nd thread, and I did uninstall 3.1, but it wasn't clear whether or not one had to uninstall VS9, so I didn't, and it still did not work. So I uninstalled/installed VS9, and all was golden, except I haven't been able to burn a DVD yet, but I should find out soon (I am rendering now), otherwise it will be HASTA with this software......I have spent way tooooo much time on this VS9, and with so many different failures, including utilizing VS9's Wizards, which have failed me everytime.

Thank goodnes I am using the trial version.

Thanks again,

Hi
i had similar probs, bought VS9 over the internet to upgrade from VS7, had to capture in VS7 and then everything else was ok in VS9, pretty strange. That was on my old pc with Win 2k Pro, now have XP and it seems much better so maybe there is a prob with OS. In my searches though, I did see a post saying that VS didn't like having Nero on the pc, might be worth uninstalling that and see if it makes a difference. Pretty clever software to have capure jealousy!!
cheers

DON'T UNINSTALL NERO!!! Sorry for the scream, but the ONLY element of Nero which can cause a conflict with other burning programs in XP is the Nero InCD program. It is packet-writing software which conflicts with XP's own packet-writing software and in effect takes over the burner, not allowing other programs access to it. And it can't be turned off, unlike some other third party packet-writing software. So if you have to uninstall something, only uninstall InCD.

(I notice, by the way, in the very latest version of Nero -- version 7, which on the Nero site is said only to be available from mid-October, but is certainly already available fairly widely in various language editions -- that InCD is not installed in the Typical Installation which is recommended. You have to go into Custom setup and deliberately choose it for it to be installed.)
